Belvedere stars triumph in soccer tournament final

OVER 250 footballers from 16 top teams around Ireland competed in the AUL Complex in this year’s Volkswagen Junior Masters football tournament. 

A fiercely competitive final saw Belvedere FC, from Fairview, defeat last year’s champions Crumlin United 1-0. Now in its third year, the under 13 Boys’ tournament has grown significantly in terms of its recognition and importance amongst the Irish grassroots soccer community.  

Belvedere FC benefited with a €2,000 grant from Volkswagen for their club, while all competing teams received an Umbro team kit for the competition.

Paul O’Sullivan, Head of Marketing for Volkswagen Passenger Cars in Ireland, said they were proud to have hosted another exceptional event.

“I congratulate all teams who took part and the overall winner and Volkswagen Junior Masters Champion 2016, Belvedere Football Club,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
