Swords woman celebrates a bronze medal

THE Irish para-athletics squad members were celebrating recently after enjoying big success at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics European Championships in Grosseto, Italy.

The Irish team, which included two Northside athletes – Greta Streimikyte, from Swords and Heather Jameson, from Garristown, returned home with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals along with a new World Record, a new European Record and a number of Personal Best times and distances.

Greta Streimikyte, who runs for Clonliffe Harriers Athletic Club, won a bronze medal on her championship debut in the 1500m, finishing in a fantastic time of 4.54.25.
