THE Swords Summer Festival is back for a second year.

The eagerly awaited festival will take place over three days, from Friday to Sunday, July 22-24, and will include the Fingal 10K Road Race, the biggest 10K run in the country.

At last year’s inaugural Swords Summer Festival, a carnival atmosphere was created in Swords Main Street.

For this year’s festival, Fingal’s events team have lined up another fantastic programme for all the family.

This year’s festivities will kick off with a very special fundraiser performance for the Swords Lions Club with the Three Tenors live in concert.

Saturday will see Swords Main Street transform into a haven of FREE FAMILY FUN with bouncy castles, stilt walkers, face painting, music and entertainment. There will be lots more for children in the Magic & Music tent.

The fantastic Superfly will take to the stage on Saturday evening in Swords Castle and are sure to have you ‘dancing in the street’.

On Sunday, July 24, runners will line up on Swords Main Street and surrounding areas to compete in the prestigious Fingal 10K race.

Locals are being encouraged to support the runners along the route.

Paul Reid, chief executive of Fingal County Council, said he is delighted the festival is back.

“The response and turn out last year was fantastic and we are hoping to build on that for this year’s festival,” said Mr Reid.

“There is something for all the family so be sure to make your way to your local festival.”

Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Darragh Butler, said: “The support of local businesses has been crucial to the success and development of the Swords Summer Festival.

“It’s great to see the town coming together to celebrate and enjoy their local amenities. I hope that everyone enjoys this year’s festivities.”

It promises to be a magical weekend in Swords for children and adults alike!
