A CIRCUIT Court trial date has been set for professional football player Jeff Hendrick in relation to an alleged incident of violent disorder in Dublin in 2013.

Mr Henrick (24) had been sent forward from the District Court in relation to the charge after a judge there refused jurisdiction earlier this year.

Mr Hendrick, with an address at Kilmore Drive, Artane, Dublin, faces a charge of violent disorder which is alleged to have occurred at Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, on October 12, 2013.

A co-accused, Jonathan Doran (25), of Kilmore Close, Artane, was also sent forward on a charge of violent disorder and additionally faces a charge of assault causing harm to Darren McDermott at Montague Street on the same date.

The men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Today the men made their first appearance before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Melanie Greally set a trial date of July 3, 2017, for both men. She set a date for pre-trial hearing in May 2017 and excused Mr Hendrick’s attendance on that date.
