SHERIFF YC will be bidding for their third FAI Junior Cup this Sunday, May 14 (4pm) at the Aviva Stadium when they take on Limerick outfit Pike Rovers in the decider.

The Northside club have had a remarkable run in the biggest cup competition in junior football. This will be their fourth final in the last five years.

In 2012 and 2013, Sheriff recorded back-to-back successes against fellow North Dublin side, Kilbarrack United, and in last year’s final they were beaten 2-1 after extra time by Liffey Wanderers.

In last month’s semi-final, Sheriff defeated another Limerick team, Janesboro, 4-1 at Frank Cooke Park. Sean Murphy, Darren Dunne, Mark Higgins and John Rock got the goals for Sheriff YC.

Brideville won the first FAI Junior Cup in 1923 and over 600 teams from all over Ireland compete annually.

Fairview Rangers and Cherry Orchard have won the most titles, winning the competition eight and seven times respectively.

Tickets for Sunday cost €10 for adults, €5 for OAPs/Students and Under 16s will be admitted free of charge. The ticket will also allow the holder to watch the Intermediate Final which takes place after the Junior Cup Final at 7pm.

Tickets are available from your local junior club or can be bought at the turnstile on the day.
