Gardaí investigating alleged assault in Raheny

GARDAÍ at Raheny Garda Station are investigating an alleged assault on a woman in her 20s.

It took place on James Larkin Road, Raheny, between the junctions of the causeway at Dollymount Beach and Howth Road, known locally as the Black Banks, on Tuesday, May 3 between 1.30 and 2.30am.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said: “The woman was walking towards Howth Road when a man grabbed her and pulled her to the ground. A passing motorist came to the woman’s assistance and the suspected offender ran off.

“The suspect offender is described as 45-50 years, short with black hair, wearing dark tracksuit bottoms with white stripes on the legs, and he spoke with a Dublin accent.

“The motorist, a middle aged man, who came to the woman’s assistance dropped her at her home in Kilbarrack but did not give his name or contact details.

“Gardaí would like to speak with this man who came to the woman’s assistance or anyone who was in the area or who may have witnessed the assault.”
