SPORT: Busy spell for Shelbourne
Dublin People 02 Apr 2016
MARCH was quite a month for Shelbourne’s youths. Six players were chosen to represent Ireland in the UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship with another Shels player on standby.

Ireland will compete in a group with Germany, Poland and Azerbaijan for a chance to qualify for the finals in Slovakia in July.
The group matches will take place at Tallaght Stadium on April 5, 7 and 10. One of the players selected, Amanda McQuillan, recently won the FAI award for Under 17 Women’s International Player of the Year.
Meanwhile, Robert McCullagh (Under 12) was one of just 13 players from the Republic of Ireland selected by Chelsea scouts to compete in a match against a Northern Ireland selection in Armagh on St Patrick’s Day. Robert helped his team to a 3-1 victory.
To cap it off, Shelbourne’s Under 18 girls travelled to the Netherlands where they won the Holland Cup, beating a top Dutch side 3-0 in the final. They were unbeaten in their six matches, scoring 25 goals and conceding just twice.
