NEWLY elected TD for Dublin Bay North, Denise Mitchell (SF), visited her former primary school in Darndale last week to raise a flag at a ceremony to mark Proclamation Day.

Speaking at the event at Our Lady Immaculate JNS, Deputy Mitchell said she was honoured to be invited back to commemorate the centenary of 1916.

“This school is one of many across the country and the State where the 1916 Proclamation is read out and the tricolour will be raised,” she said.

“Unfortunately the many ideals expressed in this historical document have not yet been realised. “The children of the nation are not being cherished equally and we must seize the opportunity to deal with the crisis in housing, healthcare and childcare.”
