A rainbow coalition of belts for top taekwondo students
Dublin People 04 Mar 2016
ON February 27, the Airport TKD students were put through their paces at a colour belt testing event at the ALSAA sports complex.

The day started off with the Panther class (4-7-year-olds) testing for their striped belts.
These young learners train and learn under the eight skills of Focus, Coordination, Control, Fitness, Discipline, Teamwork, Memory and Balance.
The theme of this testing was Teamwork with the Panthers showing their ability to work together in taekwondo, school and at home.
Next up, was the older students testing for their full colour belts – the rainbow testing! The belts included yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown and red.
The testing started with the traditional side of taekwondo, including combinations, traditional self-defence (one steps) and patterns. This was followed by a tough run through fighting techniques and live self defence.
Next up was the competition sparring, with students showing their fitness, ability and perseverance. The students then showed their precision and power (and bravery!) in the board breaking discipline. Huge congratulations are due to all the students on a very tough day.
The Airport TKD is starting a new term this month so it’s the perfect time for beginners to let their inner black bet shine and try the sport. For more information contact James Farrell on 086-6776206
