GOAL Mile is a great success
Dublin People 08 Jan 2016DUBLIN Fingal TD Alan Farrell (FG) said he was delighted with the success of the ninth annual GOAL mile charity walk at Malahide Castle.
“I would like to thank everybody, from the serious runners, to families and those out for a morning stroll, who came out to support the GOAL mile in Malahide on Christmas Day,” said Deputy Farrell.
“I would also like to thank the volunteers from the local community and the staff in GOAL, including chief executive Barry Andrews, who were integral in helping with the organisation of the event.
“A total of €1,794 was raised by this event, bringing the amount raised in Malahide since 2007 to €33,000.
“I was encouraged by the fact that so many people came out to support this very worthy charity and the valuable work it does, in such bad weather conditions. I would like to thank all contributors for their generosity.”
Deputy Farrell is encouraging more people to take part in 2016.
“It is a thoroughly enjoyable event in aid of a great cause,” he added.
