Park plans welcomed

CLLR Seán Haughey, one of Fianna Fail’s candidates in Dublin Bay North for the general election, has welcomed plans to improve facilities at St Anne’s Park, Raheny.

Cllr Haughey received a report from Dublin City Council recently outlining a major programme of works for park improvements.

“I congratulate Dublin City Council Parks Division and staff who are continuing to make substantial improvements to facilities in St Anne’s Park,” he said.

“The coming year will see the provision of an all-weather football pitch with floodlighting adjacent to the tennis courts; continued redevelopment of the tennis courts; provision of new toilet facilities; new overflow car park at the Red Stables; new extended car park on the James Larkin Road; conservation works on the St Anne’s Follies; and improvements works to the Rose Garden.

“The council will also create a Wetland area in the park to treat water from the Nanakin River entering the lagoon Eco UNESCO Biosphere.”

Cllr Haughey added that this wetland will also provide a habitat for freshwater flora and fauna.
