Audiences will warm to ‘Frozen Solid’ in January
Dublin People 18 Dec 2015
THERE will be snow and ice aplenty this January when Baldoyle Musical Society presents its latest Pantomime offering.
‘Frozen Solid’ will be staged at St Mary’s School, Baldoyle, over the first two weekends in January (7 –9 and 15-17).
With tickets priced at only €12 (€10 for groups) patrons are guaranteed a great night’s entertainment and value for money. Phone 085-1378329 to secure your tickets or book online at www.baldoylemusicalsociety.ie
There will be some familiar faces and lots of new ones in a more traditional telling of the Snow Queen story.
Of course there will still be lots of laughs, thrills, spills and romance in the snowy wastelands around the village of IKEA in the kingdom of Scandinavia.
Scripted by Richie Smith, the story tells of the revenge of the wicked Snow Queen who seeks to pass on her awesome powers to Princess Aine but it is Princess Ella who takes the brunt of the curse and inherits the uncontrollable powers.
Ella and Aine struggle to maintain their sisterly bond as her powers begin to take hold of Ella.
An eclectic cast of characters fleshes out the story including Missy Sissy, the girl’s Governess, Prince Odin and Christopher who compete for Princess Aine’s affections, snow girls, bad teachers, royalty, politicians, townsfolk and of course Troll Booth, queen of the Trolls and her tribe of little trolls.
The snowy spectacle will be enhanced by wonderful staging and effects and a live five-piece orchestra with chorus, dancers and principals numbering over 50 in total.
First-time director and long time panto prince, Damien Hurley is looking forward to seeing the fruits of his labour.
“We will be providing the best value-for-money around town again this year and we look forward to welcoming back many of our patrons who have been coming to us for years,” he said.
“It has been great fun doing such a new Panto and we expect bigger crowds than ever along to see us this year based on the popularity of the Frozen movie franchise.”
Patrons are advised to book early to avoid disappointment, as Baldoyle has to turn away bookings every year from people who just leave it too late. You have been warned!
