Gardaí issue warning over driving conditions as Orange alert in force

GARDAÍ are appealing to all road uses to exercise extreme caution on the roads this afternoon and evening in light of a level Orange weather warning issued by Met Eireann.

The warning is valid from 12 noon until 9pm for Dublin, Wicklow, Galway, Clare, Kerry and Limerick.

With high south westerly winds forecast, motorists are advised to slow down, maintain a safe driving distance and always expect the unexpected.

Gardaí are advising drivers of high sided vehicles, motorcyclists and cyclists, who are all particularly vulnerable to strong winds, to take extra care.

Road users are advised to contact local gardaí if they come across any fallen debris across the road network. You are also reminded to never stop on a motorway to remove debris and always allow extra time for your journey.
