THE Northside received a jobs boost last week when it was announced that Fujitsu Ireland is looking to recruit 35 new employees over the next six months to join its growing team.

The positions, which will be based in Swords, add to the 30 positions already filled by the IT solutions provider this year.

The positions, which are available across a variety of technical and business roles, include Project Management, Network Architecture and Security, Java Specialist, Oracle Specialists and Bid Management.

The announcement was made at a Dublin Chamber of Commerce Smart Series breakfast event sponsored by Fujitsu Ireland.

Speaking at the event, Ronan Coy, Strategic Projects Director, Fujitsu Ireland, said: “At Fujitsu Ireland, we are looking for a selection of candidates across technical and business roles to join our team which consists of 350 people.

“As the third largest IT solutions provider globally and among the top five in Ireland, new hires will join a network of some 159,000, benefiting from the company’s 80 year heritage of excellence and innovation.

With excellent opportunities for growth, we are looking to recruit people who are customer focused and solution driven, and motivated to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.”

Tony O’Malley, chief executive of Fujitsu Ireland, said: “These new appointments confirm our commitment to our customers, the Irish economy and indeed also our client team across Ireland, as we expand both our capacity and knowledge base.”

Gina Quin, chief executive of Dublin Chamber of Commerce, said Fujitsu’s expansion plans are a boost for the Dublin region and further evidence that the economic growth is continuing to pick up pace.

“Fujitsu has been a major employer in Dublin for several decades and it is encouraging to see the firm continue to grow,” said Ms Quin.

“We strive to make Dublin the best place in the world to do business and today’s announcement shows that we are succeeding
