Peugeot 308 SW has a lot of pull
Dublin People 10 Oct 2014JUST a few weeks after going on sale in Ireland, the new Peugeot 308SW PureTech 1.2 e-THP petrol model has won top honours in the Class 2 category in the UK Caravan Club’s Towcar of the Year 2015 Awards.
The new 308 SW joined the award winning 308 hatchback this summer and shares its European Car of the Year 2014 accolade.
Summing up their decision the judges said:
“With a three-cylinder 1,200cc engine the SW is going to struggle, right? Wrong! Peugeot’s PureTech engine proves that efficiency doesn’t have to mean pedestrian-like performance – indeed, the Peugeot was amazingly punchy around all parts of the circuit, even on the 17 per cent hill-start which it dealt with easily.

The UK Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2015 Awards were judged by a panel of experts who put 39 cars through their paces at the Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire to establish their towing credentials as well as their
‘caravanability’ or practicality for towing holidays as well as everyday use.
The new 308 is the first Peugeot car to benefit from the innovative three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, the PureTech 1.2-litre e-THP with a choice of 110 or 130bhp. Also available are BlueHDi models, including a segment-leading engine with emissions of just 82g/km in the Hatchback and 85g/km in the SW, plus next generation six-speed automatic gearboxes. Together they will ensure the all-new Peugeot 308 and 308 SW range has the widest possible range of high performance and economical engines to suit every taste and budget.
Every car in the New 308 range promises improved levels of dynamic ride and handling quality. With new low-weight suspension components combined with the advantages from the new EMP2 chassis, the new 308 provides drivers with a benchmark in handling, agility, comfort and road holding.
The showroom success enjoyed by the award-winning Peugeot 308 looks set to reach even greater heights with the arrival of a dynamic new flagship.
