Disabled Drivers Motorshow for the RDS
Dublin People 12 Sep 2014A FREE Disabled Drivers Motorshow and Conference organised by the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland (DDAI) is being held on Friday, October 3 and Saturday 4 at the RDS.

“Over 500,000 people in Ireland are living with some form of disability,
? said Richard Ryder, marketing manager for the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland, which is organising the event.
“We organised the show in response to a growing demand for a centralised event that would showcase the latest vehicles, associated products and services to people with limited mobility, their families, carers and healthcare professionals.
?
Exhibitors include Skoda MSL Park Motors, Renault Ireland, Hyundai Ireland, Toyota Crossings Motor Centre, Fiat Kelly Mobility, Rathfarnham Ford Volksvagen MSL Grange Motors, and OC Cars as well as the Irish Wheelchair Association.
The Revenue Commissioners will also be on hand to explain the Car Tax Relief Scheme for people with disabilities.
The conference will cover key topics on starting, returning or continuing to drive as well as the financial supports available.
Electrician Joe McCormack who was paralysed from the chest down following a car accident a few years ago, learned to drive again and now shares all the family driving duties with his wife Shirley.
“Regaining my mobility has been a lifeline for me personally,
? he said.
“It’s brought me a huge amount of independence and improved my quality of life. With three school going kids, there’s always a packed schedule of afterschool, evening and weekend activities and I’m involved the whole way which is a huge boost on so many levels for me.
“I would definitely recommend that anyone who has lost their mobility or may be in danger of doing so to go to the Disabled Drivers Motorshow in the RDS in October. It’s free entry for visitors and you are bound to get a lot of practical advice and tips that would help your own situation.
