Dublin People 09 Aug 2014

DUBLIN’S number one Mazda dealer, MSL Mazda, will sponsor this year’s Lord Mayor’s Cup competition at Clontarf Golf Club from August 10 to 16.

The competition, which is synonymous with Clontarf Club, is one of the longest running in Dublin, and has been a key event on the golf calendar since 1951, when it was launched by the then Lord Mayor, Jack Belton.

The hugely popular event sees players from all over the county sign up for the competition every year and includes many past winners.

At the launch of the MSL Mazda Lord Mayor’s Cup, Club Captain Brian Johnston said:

“We are delighted to have MSL Mazda as our sponsor of this year’s event.

“Our sponsors are a vital part of the competition’s success and we are very happy to be entering into a new relationship with Donal and the team at MSL Mazda.

Donal Duggan, Brand Manager at MSL Mazda, added:

“We are excited to sponsor this year’s event and to be part of the great tradition that is the Lord Mayor’s Cup in Clontarf. Our Mazda showroom at MSL Park Motors is very close to the club here, and we are keen to be an active part of our local community. I know that a lot of the members here are Mazda fans, so it’s a great opportunity for them to see some of our new models, and hopefully play some great golf too.

The seven-day MSL Mazda Lord Mayor’s Cup will begin with the qualifier on Sunday, August 10.

The qualifying round is 18 holes singles strokes, played on a scratch basis, with the leading 64 players qualifying for the match play stages.

Entry is open to players of affiliated golf clubs who hold a handicap of four to nine at the date of the qualifying round. The final will be on Saturday, August 16.

MSL Mazda is located at MSL Park Motors on the Navan Road, and has been working with Mazda Ireland for over 40 years in providing high quality service to Mazda in Dublin and surrounding counties.
