Dublin People 28 Feb 2014

TRADITION dictates that the first citizen of Dublin has the first car registered in the capital each year, and once again Lord Mayor of Dublin Oisín Quinn has chosen the Volvo S80 as his official Mayoral car.

Volvo is a world leader in reducing C02 emissions, so the Lord Mayor Oisín Quinn was happy to choose the Volvo S80 D4 SE Lux Geartronic equipped with Volvo’s latest Drive-E D4 diesel powertrain.

The Lord Mayor chose a Volvo S80 D4 SE lux which has a powerful and economical new 2.0 liter Drive-E Diesel Engine benefiting from CO2 emissions of just 117 g/km (tax band A4) and fuel consumption of 4.5 l/100 km (62.7 mpg) respectively.

He can enjoy an exceptional standard of specification and power while retaining economical fuel consumption and low C02 emissions.

Volvo’s reputation for safety is well known and the latest versions of the Volvo S80 are fitted with City Safety as standard, a system using radar to identify stationary or slow moving city traffic.

If the driver does not react in time the car will automatically apply the brakes, eliminating low speed shunts under 50km per hour or reducing the severity of higher speed accidents.

Vincent Norton, Executive Manager in the Office of the Lord Mayor commented:

“On behalf of the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to Volvo Cars Ireland Limited for providing the Lord Mayor for the third successive year with the Volvo S80 D4 SE as the official mayoral car for 2014.
