PEUGEOT recorded a 3.5 per cent sales growth worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2013, thanks to strong performance from a number of new models.

Figures released show Peugeot achieved worldwide sales of 1,553,000 vehicles and continued its expansion in international markets.

The percentage of Peugeot sales in countries outside Europe, is now 43 per cent, an increase of 10.9 per cent and in line with the brand’s objective of achieving 50 per cent of its sales outside Europe by 2015, against a backdrop of a stagnant European market.

In China the biggest vehicle market in the world, Peugeot outperformed a 19 per cent market increase, with a growth of 25.8 per cent (272,000 units).

PSA Peugeot Citroen remains the second largest automotive group in Europe. This strength has been reinforced by the sales performance of the Peugeot 208, new 2008 and the newly launched 308.

Production of the Peugeot 208 will soon pass 600,000 units since its launch in 2012. In spring 2013, the 208 range was topped by two new additions, the 208 XY and 208 GTi, which accounted for nearly 9,500 orders by the end of December: nearly a third of 208 customers have chosen the top trim levels.

In 2013, Peugeot also broke records to win the iconic American hill climb at Pikes Peak with the 208 T16 Pikes Peak, celebrated a triple win with the 208 GTi Peugeot Sport in its category in the 24 Hours at Nürburgring and launched private racing versions (208 R2, 208 Racing Cup Circuit and 208 T16) to customers all around Europe.

The Peugeot 2008 Urban Crossover has enjoyed more than 82,000 customer orders since its launch in spring 2013. The strong appeal of the 2008, confirmed by several awards received in Europe, has led to an increase in production capacity at Mulhouse, progressively brought up to 650 units a day
