Funky new Adam should be Small Car of the Year

IT’S a bit early to be talking about the Car of the Year awards, but after seeing and driving Opel’s funky new Adam around Wicklow last week I think it should be in the running for Small Car of the Year at least.

Opel has high hopes for this, their first city car, which is built on the Corsa chassis. One of their big selling points is that you can choose you own colour combinations.

Your local Opel dealer now has three versions of the Adam in showrooms: Jam, Glam and Slam. Choose which version you want, the interior and exterior colours you would like and Opel will have your own specially commissioned car delivered to you from their manufacturing plant in Germany in around eight weeks.

The Jam is the basic model and its starting price will be

?¬14,995, the next model up is the Glam which probably be more attractive to

‘Eve’ as it has many so called

‘girly’ touches. The Glam starts at e16,995 as does the sporty Slam version.

All versions are two-door and will be available in 1.4 petrol only. There is room for two people in the back and the boot is small, but deep.

The Adam looks a bit like the popular Fiat 500, but offers more in terms of choosing your own colours. You can have 18 interior colours, 23 different coloured wheels and five roof headlines. Opel say the car is not targeted at any particular age group, but you can now choose a colour scheme that reflects your own personality.
