THE new Peugeot 208 was awarded Continental Irish Small Car of the Year 2012, by the Irish Motoring Writers’ Association and took third place in the overall ranking.

The announcement was made at an awards ceremony at the Convention Centre in Dublin before Christmas, attended by leading figures across the Irish Motor Industry.

This is the sixth Irish Car of the Year accolade for Peugeot in just three years – the Peugeot 3008 won its category for best Crossover and the overall award to become Irish Car of the Year 2010; the Peugeot 5008 MPV was awarded Irish Family Car of the Year 2011; the RCZ was named Irish Performance Car of the Year 2011; the Peugeot 508 was voted Irish Family Car of the Year 2012.

George Harbourne, Peugeot Managing Director said:

“Following in the footsteps of the legendary 205, 206 and 207, the Peugeot 208 is a terrific car. It’s stylish, looks sporty, it’s roomy and of course it’s economical with the lowest CO2 emissions in its class. We are truly delighted with the Irish Small Car of the Year 2013 award and I wish to thank the Irish Motoring Writers’ Association for recognising the unique qualities of the new Peugeot 208.
