New taxi system is a winner!
Dublin People 31 Aug 2012DUN LAOGHAIRE entrepreneur Paul O’Loughlin Kennedy is launching a new fully-automated taxi dispatch system that will give customers faster pick-up times and enhanced safety.

Paul is launching WINIcabs, a new Irish next-generation taxi service in Dublin.
Using an Irish-invented award-winning piece of next-generation taxi technology, this is the first fully-automatic system that works on older mobiles as well as smartphones. WINI’s patented system matches callers looking for a taxi with the nearest taxi to them. Using mobile phone technology, WINIcabs identifies the caller’s location and then connects their phone call to the mobile of the nearest available WINIcab driver, enabling the customer to speak directly to the driver who will pick them up.
You don’t have to have a smart phone, you don’t have to download an app – you can if you want to, but you can also call 07 66 55 44 33 from an ordinary mobile phone. Already 400 Dublin taxis are using WINI’s technology in their cabs, with another 700 signed up to be equipped.
The technology offers customers a number of advantages. It ensures that they will get connected to the nearest taxi to them, shortening their waiting time. It offers significantly enhanced security each driver has undergone an independent identity verification and customer receive a security text with their details. At the end of their journey they have several options for payment – cash, credit card and soon charge to mobile phone bill. Customers can also rate the drivers they’ve used.
Initially, the fully automated WINIcabs service is operational on the Vodafone network only, with other networks expected to carry the service shortly. Until then, users of the O2, Meteor, 3 and Emobile networks should call the same number on 07 66 55 44 33 to receive a text with a link to download the app from the iTunes or Google play stores
The award-winning technology solution was conceived 10 years ago by Paul O’Loughlin Kennedy and his father John (founder of the third world relief organisation, Concern). Through the use of a number of WINI Technology solutions, (WINI – When I Need It, Where I Need It) the company has the potential to provide game-changing solutions for many location-based services. In 2011, the technology won the Aepona/Neustar Developer Challenge at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Significant interest from around the world has resulted and the company is in discussions with customers in Canada, USA, Brazil, and the Middle East.
Paul said:
“The next-generation mobile technology used by WINIcabs provides those looking for a cab with a much faster and safer service. Using existing mobile technology, callers are automatically matched with the nearest cab to them.
“WINIcabs also offer customers enhanced safety as, once engaged, the driver’s details are automatically sent to the customer by SMS – this SMS can be forwarded to another number as a record of the journey or if a child is getting the taxi, to the parent. With a pre-registered debit/credit card anyone can open a family account so their loved ones, young and old, can get a taxi safely. They get a copy of the security text and the passenger can charge the fare to the account even if they don’t have the card with them – so if Dad forgets to pick someone up from a match or practice
?¦.. WINIcabs is the safest route to take.
