Car safety seat campaign rolls into town

Dublin People 06 Apr 2012

Mothercare launched their annual

‘Check it Fits’ Car
SeatSafety campaign with Ireland AM’s Anna Daly recently.

The roadshows will take place at the Blanchardstown
Shopping Centre on Friday, April 13 and Carrickmines on Saturday,
Saturday, April 14.

At these roadshows, highly trained car seat experts
from Mothercare, Britax and Dorel will check thousands of car seats are fitted
correctly, completely free of charge.

They will also offer free advice on what is the best
car seat for your child, your car and your needs, as well as explaining some of
the jargon associated with car seats.
Everyone who participates in the Checkit Fits roadshows will receive a
10 per cent discount on the purchase of their next stage car seat for their
child.

When choosing a car seat there are a number of aspects
to consider. A baby grows rapidly and as
their weight and height changes, so too does the need for a safe and comfortable
car seat. The car seat experts will
advise you of the best products for your child’s journey through car seats.

“It is a shocking statistic from the Road Safety
Authority that 77 per cent of child
fatalities in collisions between 1996 and 2000 were due to a lack of or misuse
of a child restraint car seat,

? said Jonny Ward, Operations Director and Car
Seat Expert at Mothercare Ireland.

“We can demonstrate the correct way to fit your car
seat and show you how to fit it correctly yourself. We can also help you choose the correct seat
for your child and dispel some myths about car seats, such as selecting the
correct seat for your child’s age that is merely a guide as we measure the
correct seat by height and weight.

“We also have advanced technology that will help you
find a suitable seat for your car, all free of charge. EU legislation states that all children must
travel in a child seat, booster seat or booster cushion.

Anna Daly, Ireland AM presenter and new mum
comments:

“I am proud to support any campaign
that saves children’s lives and raise awareness of the importance of correctly
fitting car seats.

“As a new mother, I understand how overwhelming it can
be to find the right seat and learn how to correctly fit it and I am extremely
grateful for the free advice and demo’s offered by the car seat experts at
Mothercare. I also think it’s a lovely policy that Mothercare will check any
seat that they stock, even if you didn’t buy it in Mothercare.
