Summer woofing!
Dublin People 19 Jun 2015OVER 150 dogs took part in the Marlay Bark in the Park which was held in glorious summer conditions earlier this month.
The eighth annual sponsored dog walk was a huge success. New friends were made, sniffed and many tails were wagged.
In addition to the 4km walk, participants enjoyed goody bags with doggy treats sponsored by Maxi Zoo. There were human treats, too, along with a raffle and music.
The awards for the dog with the Best Bark, Shiniest Coat, Happiest Smile and Waggiest Tail were much sought after, with many strong contenders for each category.
Funds raised on the day will go towards the Irish Blue Cross which works with sick and needy pets.
Last year, four Bark in the Park events raised over
?¬16,500 for the charity. In 2014, this vital income provided in the region of 27,000 treatments, check-ups, X-rays, neutering and other surgeries to pets whose owners are on reduced means.
The funds raised from these events go towards maintaining the organisation’s small animal services.
Two further Bark in the Park events will take place this summer: in Tymon Park, Tallaght, on Sunday, July 12 and the Phoenix Park on Sunday, August 30.
