Dog walk leads to happy fundraising

Dublin People 03 Sep 2011

ARDGILLAN
Demesne was the place to be for dog lovers recently where the second annual dog
walk through the majestic grounds took place in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the
Blind (IGDB).

Organisers
where overwhelmed by the amount of people and dogs that turned up to support
the event, gave a donation, purchased something from the Guide Dogs merchandise
stall or bought some raffle tickets, all of which helped to raise a total of

?¬1,095.30.

A
total of 59 dogs were registered on the day including Guide Dogs – Sarge,
Unice, Gill and Parker, Assistance Dog – Bonnie, Puppy in Training – Tilly and
Fundraising Dog – Delta.

A
spokesperson for the Balbriggan branch of Guide Dogs, said: “It was
amazing to see so many dogs in one place. Some were tiny and some were huge but
all were so well behaved.

“It
was a great fundraising day and a great socialising exercise for all the dogs
too.

“We
would like to thank everybody that supported us on the day and contributed to
the fantastic amount raised, all the families that came along, the volunteers
that helped out, the Red Bull team and the local businesses – Cuddles Pet
Store, Harveys American Bar & Grill, Quayside Cinema and Doggy Doos that
donated the raffle prizes.

Irish
Guide Dogs for the Blind is a national charity dedicated to helping persons who
are blind or vision impaired or families of children with autism to achieve
improved mobility and independence.
