Strong Dublin showing at BAFTA nominations

The Irish awards season charge has continued with Dublin men Barry Keoghan, Ed Guiney and Robbie Ryan securing BAFTA nominations.

On the acting front, Barry Keoghan was nominated for Saltburn, along with his co-stars Jacob Elordi and Rosamund Pike.

Keoghan received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, with the Dubliner losing to Cillian Murphy in the Best Actor – Drama category.

Keoghan has now secured BAFTA nominations in back-to-back years, following his nomination for the Martin McDonagh film The Banshees Of Inisherin, and may well receive consecutive Oscar nominations.

Andrew Scott didn’t pick up a nomination for his performance in All Of Us Strangers, but his co-stars Paul Mescal and Claire Foy received nominations.

Dublin producer Ed Guiney looks to follow up on his Golden Globe win for Poor Things with a BAFTA award, with his film securing a Best Film nomination.

Dublin cinematographer Robbie Ryan has been nominated for his work on the film, boosting his chances of an Oscar nomination.

Corkman Cillian Murphy continues to have a strong awards season showing, with his lead performance in Oppenheimer nominated for Best Actor, as well as the film sweeping the nominations, including nominations for director Christopher Nolan and stars Robert Downey Junior and Emily Blunt.

Oppenheimer was the big winner following the nominations, picking up 13 nominations overall, with Poor Things just behind with 11 nominations.

The BAFTAS will be held on February 18th, with Doctor Who star David Tennant serving as host.

The BAFTAS are a step in the road to the Oscars, which will be held on March 10th in Los Angeles.
