Dublin buzz following Golden Globe nominations

Dublin has a lot to cheer about following the Golden Globe nominations. 

Super producer Ed Guiney’s film, Poor Things, received 7 nominations across director and numerous acting categories.

The twisted sci-fi dark comedy will hit Irish cinemas in early January.

Guiney, who has received Oscar nominations for producing films such as The Favourite and Room, is set to add to his tally as the film picks up awards season traction.

Summerhill man Barry Keoghan has been nominated for a Golden Globe award, as has fellow Dublin man Andrew Scott.

Keoghan has received his 2nd nomination in a row, this time securing a nomination for the dark comedy Saltburn.

Keoghan, fresh off his Oscar nomination for The Banshees Of Inisherin, is nominated in the Best Actor – Drama category alongside Cork man Cillian Murphy, Leonardo Di Caprio, Bradley Cooper, Andrew Scott and Colman Domingo.

The star was nominated for the Martin McDonagh dark comedy last year alongside co-star Brendan Gleeson, but both Dublin men lost to Ke Huy Quan for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which ended up as the titan of last year’s awards cycle.

Keoghan’s Saltburn co-star Rosamund Pike was nominated in actress in a supporting performance.

Andrew Scott was nominated for the LGBT drama All Of Us Strangers, which co-stars Kildare man Paul Mescal and The Crown star Claire Foy.

Scott was previously nominated for a Golden Globe in 2020 for his performance in Fleabag.

Barbie led the pack with 9 nominations, while Oppenheimer securd 8.

The Golden Globes will be held on January 7th in Los Angeles.
