Manic Street Preachers to play Trinity next July

Welsh rock legends Manic Street Preachers will play Trinity College next July, with support from fellow 90s icons Suede.

The match-up of the two 90s rock legends is sure to be music to the ears of fans, and follows on from a jam-packed summer of gigs at Trinity that saw the likes of Texas, The War On Drugs, Bastille and Kraftwerk take to the stage.

On the night, the Manics will be the first act up, with Suede closing the show.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 13th from Ticketmaster, with the gig itself taking place on July 2nd next year.

The bands are the among biggest names in British rock music, and the groups have scored 20 Irish top 40 hits between them over the years.

2023 is a year for looking back and forward for the groups, with the Manics marking 25 years of their landmark album This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, and Suede celebrating 30 years since their landmark self-titled debut album.

The Manics have gone from strength to strength since their landmark debut album Generation Terrorists, scoring chart-topping hits in the UK singles charts, and their politically charged anthems allowing them to play a sold-out gig in Cuba at a time when Fidel Castro banned Western acts from playing the island.

Suede, who hold the pub quiz question of having Ricky Gervais serve as their manager before their rise to success, scored some of the best reviews of their career last year with their album Autofiction, with the album scoring their best chart position and critical acclaim since their 90s heyday.
