Simon Home Run

Head up to Phoenix Park for the 2020 Simon Home Run on Saturday, March 7, and raise money to provide homes for the homeless. Participants can run, jog or walk the five mile (8km) route around the beautiful surroundings of the Phoenix Park. There will be kids’ activities on the day with food and entertainment for all the family to enjoy. It’s an enjoyable morning out for an important cause.

Life in Still Life

This exhibition is running at the Phoenix Park Visitor Centre until March 23 as part of the annual cross border partnership between the Office of Public Works (OPW) in the Republic of Ireland and the Department of Finance of Northern Ireland. It showcases 54 artworks on the theme of still life selected by the members of The Association of Art and Design Education in Northern Ireland. The visitor centre is open daily from 9.30am-5.15pm.

Songs in the Key of D

Amateur choir, Songs in the Key of D, are celebrating International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, with a spectacular night of music inspired by some of Dublin’s finest female musicians at 8pm in Stillorgan Orchard. The choir is led by professional directors and sing a repertoire made up entirely of songs that are either about Dublin or that have a strong link with the capital. Admission is free, and there will be a collection in aid of Songs in the Key of D on the night.

Sports Quiz

Quizhost Ireland, one of the most popular quiz nights in Dublin, is hosting their new sports quiz at the Five Lamps Brewery in Camden Street on Monday, March 9, at 7.30pm. There will be sports questions to suit sports fans of every type with audio and video questions presented on a big screen. Sounds like a great way to spend a Monday evening. It costs €5 per person or €20 for a team of four.

Dublin International Film Festival

The Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival continues at various locations around the city until Sunday, March 8. From hidden gems to red-carpet spectaculars attended by directors and stars, it’s a celebration of cinematic excellence in all its forms. The Closing Gala features Herself Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!) and produced by Element Pictures (The Favourite), teaming up with Sharon Horgan’s production company Merman, in Parnell Street. Women’s Day Céili Dance

Dublin City Council is hosting a céili dance to celebrate International Women’s Day at 12.30-2pm on Monday, March 9 in Finglas Youth Resource Centre on Mellows Road. Women in Science

The French Embassy in partnership with Trinity College Dublin – School of Physics, the German Embassy and the Goethe Institute, are hosting an event to engage, learn and exchange about what it means to be women in science, from Marie Curie to today. Taking place on Friday, March 6 at 6.30pm in Trinity College for the Irish Premiere screening of the Franco-German-Polish film ‘Marie Curie – The Courage of Knowledge’ by Marie Noëlle the film is followed by a panel discussion featuring women from the research world and initiatives promoting opportunities for girls in STEM. Dublin Fragments: The Pearson Collection

the Irish Georgian Society is presenting ‘Dublin Fragments: The Pearson Collection’ curated by artist Peter Pearson until March 22. This exhibition is a monument to Dublin at a particular moment in time in the last decades of the 20th century – a period of dramatic change on a widespread scale, where little of the built heritage was considered worth keeping. This presentation of architectural fragments and installations presents a dazzling display of Dublin craftsmanship. The exhibition is located at the City Assembly House on South William Street.
