New Year’s Festival to go off with a bang

Dublin People 15 Nov 2019
Bring in the New Year with a big bash in the city.

NOW in its eighth year, New Year's Festival Dublin (NYF Dublin) will be bigger and better than ever this year.

Dublin City will come alive over two days of fun-filled New Year's festivities with three spectacular countdown events at the iconic Custom House – Liffey Lights Midnight Moment – Matinee, the Countdown Concert and the Liffey Lights Midnight Moment.

On January 1, families and friends can continue the New Year’s celebrations by kick-starting 2020 in style at the New Year’s Day Concert in Temple Bar, the cultural heart of Dublin City.

The return of the three countdown events on December 31 will include headliners Walking on Cars, Ash, Aimee and Lisa McHugh performing at the Countdown Concert.

Revellers will also be amazed by the world class countdown spectacles – Liffey Lights Midnight Moment and the family-friendly Liffey Lights Midnight Moment (Matinee).

Families and friends of all ages can count down to the New Year together at Liffey Lights Midnight Moment Matinee, a very special earlier countdown event.

Children will be enchanted as the night sky lights up in a magical explosion of colour as laser lights and aqua beams dance in perfect harmony with the music.

Entertainment for this free event will start at 6pm leading to the earlier countdown spectacle at 7pm.

This is also a free event but tickets will need to be booked in advance.

Booking details will be announced on www.nyfdublin.com at the end of November.

The Liffey Lights Midnight Moment will mark the end of the year and welcome in 2020 in spectacular fashion.

Prepare to be thrilled by the spectacular solar symphony of lights as up to 100 aqua beams, lasers and search lights dance across the night sky.

Paul McAuliffe, Lord Mayor of Dublin, said: “We are very proud and excited to be bringing New Year’s Festival to the streets of Dublin.

“This promises to be a big party for Dubliners and visitors alike.”
