Art Source

The largest collection of Banksy’s work exhibited on public show in Ireland is set to feature at Ireland’s premier art fair Art Source, at the RDS from November 15-17.

Gormleys Fine Art will be showing 12 screen prints by the anonymous British-based artist and political activist whose original piece Devolved Parliament recently sold for €10.9 million.   Over 15,000 people are expected to attend the year’s biggest and most exciting art show, which will feature 200 of the best contemporary Irish and international artists and galleries. Irish art lovers also have the unique chance to get their hands on 100 pieces of original artwork for €100 each on a first-come, first-served basis on the opening morning of the show.

Dublin Book Festival

The Dublin Book Festival 2019 programme is jam-packed with over 50 events including readings, workshops (for young and old alike), exhibitions, plus plenty of absolutely free activities.

Chunky Blanket – knitting workshop

Would you like to have a beautiful chunky knit blanket to decorate your sofa, comfy chair or nursery? You can create one yourself during a two-hour workshop at the Fumbally Stables where the Olannmor team will teach and help you to make one of these beautiful blankets yourself, in any of their nine colours.

Let’s Talk Science Festival

The annual interactive Let’s Talk Science Festival takes place at the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun on Saturday, November 16.

This year, the event will help visitors explore the fun world of science and climate action. This exciting free festival is a unique opportunity for all the family to have fun and explore science, technology, engineering and maths.

Robo Riots

Robo Riots brings famous robots from BBC’s hit TV show Robot Wars, to battle it out live in Dublin. 

Their ultimate goal is to destroy or disable the opponent to reign supreme in Robot Combat Sports. This is the first full length heavyweight combat robot tournament of its scale in Ireland.

There will also be celebrity robots like R2-D2, a Dalek, a Minecraft creeper and AL-1X – Robo Riots’ very own Z-list celebrity robot.  It’s happening at the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on November 16-17. Tickets from ticketmaster.ie.

Divine Madness

This dance/opera study of grief, revenge and love built around a soprano and two dancers is taking place at Project Arts Centre in Temple Bar nightly at 7.30pm from November 14-17 inclusive.

John Scott creates a work with soprano Orla Boylan and dancers, including the gifted Conor Thomas Doherty, who has performed in Jan Fabre’s 24-hour play ‘Mount Olympus’, which is also punctuated with operatic arias.

Divine Madness by the Irish Modern Dance Theatre explores the physicality of the soprano in the context of a dance, the singer exploring her practice beyond the concert recital. Tickets from projectartscentre.ie.

Readers’ Day

Dublin City Libraries is hosting a readers’ day at Smock Alley Theatre in Temple Bar on Saturday, November 16 from 10am-3.30pm as part of Dublin Book Festival.

It promises to be an engaging morning of book chat, hosted by writer and critic Niall MacMonagle, in conversation with a host of authors including Rosita Boland, Anne Griffin, Jan Carsonsets, Hugo Hamilton, Rónán Hession and more.

Complimentary refreshments will be served during a 40-minute interval. Ticket price of €12 includes refreshments and goody bag.

Swan   Lake

The ballet that has captivated audiences for decades is being performed by Ballet Ireland at the Gaiety Theatre from November 13-16.

This most famous of ballets, combines romantic themes, classical technique and ethereal imagery, with Tchaikovsky’s majestic score, to ensure this masterpiece’s immortality.

Over 20 leading professional dancers from Ireland and abroad will perform this breath-taking production which was loved by audiences and critics when last produced by Ballet Ireland. Tickets from ticketmaster.ie.
