EPIC exhibition  

EPIC, The Irish Emigration Museum, has launched a major new exhibition inviting people from all over the world to pay tribute to their Irish ancestors who emigrated, by adding their names to the museum.

People are invited to be among the first to include the names of their ancestors and the details of their journey to be displayed in an interactive exhibition in EPIC, which is based in the Chq building on Custom House Quay, Dublin 1.  

The exhibition opened on October 1 and is situated in the Connections gallery in EPIC. People can add their name via the EPIC website by visiting www.epicchq.com/names.

Duda’s No Strings

Fresh off the back of his recent collaboration with U2's The Edge, Duda's latest body of work, 'No Strings', is now running at the Sol Art Gallery, Irish Times Building, D’Olier Street, until Saturday, October 26. This is the latest collection of works from the Irish-Italian artist, whose credits include a 5,000 square foot mural at the World Trade Centre in New York. Duda’s paintings are characterised by his appreciation for beauty combined with his own unique take on modern life and pop culture. To find out more visit www.solart.ie

Wanted One Body

PS Productions presents the comedy murder mystery ‘Wanted One Body!’ at the Sean O’Casey Theatre, East Wall from Monday to Friday, October 14-18, at 8pm.

Crack the Code 

As part of EU Code Week, which runs until October 20, Sabine McKenna will offer ‘A Taste of Computer Coding’ in Swords Library on Saturday, October 19, from 10.30am-12noon. 

In this workshop, children aged 8–10, will get the opportunity to create and code a simple game using the online platform Scratch.

Ladies in the Blues

The Ladies in the Blues show is heading to the Pavilion in Dun Laoghaire on October 16. Celebrate the power of women in the history of the blues from the gospel roots of the 1920s, through vaudeville & jazz, to the blues rock of the 60s & 70s. This all-Irish cast of four diverse female singers and a crackin’ band of blues sidemen take you on a women's journey through song with iconic visual backdrops of all those great female trailblazers – Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Ma Rainey, Etta James, Sr Rosetta Tharpe, Bessie Smith, Janice Joplin and many more.

History lectures

Renowned historians including Padraig Yeates, Dr Edward Bourke and Jamie Moran are included in the line-up for Dún Laoghaire's festival of lectures on the War for Independence in Dublin and Dún Laoghaire. Commencing on Thursday, October 17, the weekly lectures will continue each Thursday evening in the Dún Laoghaire (Eblana) Club, commencing at 7.30p.m. All are welcome to attend these research based and illustrated lectures.

Halloween Hit…Wringer

Bewley's Cafe Theatre is presenting the return of Halloween Hit…Wringer by Stewart Roche from October 15 to November 2 (Mon-Sat at 1pm (doors open at 12.50pm).

When fading movie star and raconteur Jonathan Ravencliffe agrees to an interview with up and coming blogger Elsa, he anticipates an evening of anecdotes about his time with Hammer Horror, working with Roger Corman and acting in cult TV shows from the 1980s.

What he hasn’t bargained for is Elsa’s ability to dig deep into his past. A past that may or may not contain a very dark secret… A Halloween thriller that grips tight!

Ceramics Exhibition

The Ceramics Ireland Selected Member’s Exhibition at Rathfarnham Castle features works by 46 artists, all making their ceramic works in Ireland.  

The show runs till October 20 in the beautiful setting of Rathfarnham Castle. It is free to enter and the ceramic works are on sale. The show is open each week from Wed to Sun from 10.30am to 4.15pm.

Back to Mine

Back to the Future poster artist Mark O’Neill returns to Dublin a decade after his last sold-out show.

A recipient of the Adams Artist of the Future award at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1991, Lancashire-born O’Neill has established himself as one of the most sought-after artists in the country.

His exhibition Back To Mine is being hosted at Gallery Zozimus until October 31, and takes two meanings with O’Neill reflecting scenes of home while embracing his roots.
