Liberties Festival

The Liberties Festival is one of Ireland’s oldest festivals and it’s back again from July 17-21. Festival of Curiosity

From Playful Days to Curious Nights – experience a cultural feast of unique, visual and interactive experiences at this year’s Festival of Curiosity.

It’s Dublin’s International festival of science, art, design & technology and it’s taking place from July 18-21 across 14 venues in Dublin City Centre.

Dublin Maker

A day-long free, family friendly festival of hackers, crafters, coders, DIYers and curious inventors  will transform Merrion Square on Saturday, July 20.

This community run event takes the form of a “show and tell” experience where inventors/makers sourced through an open call, will have an opportunity to showcase their creations at individual booths in a carnival atmosphere.

Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, artists, science clubs, students, authors and commercial exhibitors. More info at www.dublinmaker.ie

Swords Summer Festival 

The Swords Summer Festival, which runs from Thursday to Sunday, July 18-21, will feature a wonderful array of musical and comedy acts over the course of the weekend at Swords Castle.

On July 18 Lightening Comedy will feature a number of talented comedians including David Gilna, Paul Currie, Christina McMahon and Robbie Forde while on July 19 ‘Forever Young’, will be showcasing the songs and stories of Rod Stewart.

Hothouse Flowers, along with special guests Jerry Fish and Eoin 

Glackin, will take to the stage on July 20. Tickets to attend Hothouse Flowers are available from www.tickets.ie. There will also be family fun and entertainment in Swords Town Park from 12noon to 6pm on July 20 and July 21.

Summer Colour Explosion 

Dublin artists Jennifer Hart and Jean Lowndes have come together as artists and friends to hold a joint exhibition in the Copper House Gallery (St Kevin’s Cottages, Synge Street, Dublin 8).

‘Summer Colour Explosion’ will take place on Friday, July 19 from 10am to 4pm; Saturday, July 20 from 12noon to 5pm; and Sunday, July 21 from 12noon to 5pm. 

The exhibition will feature oil-based paintings from both artists, starring vibrant colours and naturalistic motifs that reflect their interests and influences.

Fishy Fun 

Fishy Fun is being held at the Museum of Ireland – Natural History, Merrion Street, Dublin 2, on Saturday, July 20 from 10am to 4pm.  

There is no charge and no booking required. Fishy Fun will bring a range of interactive activities suitable for all the family. 

Inland Fisheries Ireland and the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History are partnering for the one-day event as part of International Year of the Salmon (IYS) which aims to engage the public around the challenges facing salmon today.  

Visitors to the museum will learn more about the fantastic collection of fish on display and how Ireland’s most iconic fish species, salmon, is facing its biggest challenge yet.
