The Big Bohs Gig

PJ Gallagher, Natty Wailer and Eric Lalor will perform at the Big Bohs Gig on Sunday May 19 in Vicar Street along with a host of other top acts who all are giving their time free of charge to help the Northside club.

The proceeds of the gig are going towards a new core aim of building a facility locally to operate from across all ages of the club.

You can get tickets from Ticketmaster.ie, Ticketmaster outlets, the club shop or at Bang Bang on Leinster Street. It promises to be a great night out.

Culture Date with Dublin 8  

Ellie O’Sullivan (10), a pupil from Gaelscoil Inse Chor, is pictured at the launch of ‘Culture Date with Dublin 8’ that will run from Saturday May 18 to Sunday May 19.

The festival, now in its third year, highlights the postal district of D8 as one of Ireland’s top cultural destinations. The weekend will see a series of over 30 free and specially curated events taking place across some of Dublin’s top historical landmarks including Kilmainham Gaol, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and IMMA – Irish Museum of Modern Art. PhotoIreland Festival

The tenth anniversary of Ireland’s International Festival of Photography & Image Culture is underway.

Running until July 31, this vibrant, friendly, all-inclusive festival is a visual treat for anybody with an interest in photography or those who just enjoy looking at great photographs.

The main exhibitions are now open, with The People of the Mud on at The Library Project, 4 Temple Bar Street, from Tue-Fri 11am-6pm/Sat-Sun 12-6pm and The Invention of Memory on show at Rathfarnham Castle, from Mon-Sun 9.30am-5.30pm. Full festival details from http://2019.photoireland.org.

Wilderness  path

The Red Bank 1736 Tavern is presenting photographer Mark Sedgwick in an exhibition showcasing a selection of his limited edition digital prints from Thursday, May 16 to Tuesday May 28 from 5-11pm. Mark’s photography is an eclectic take on the world about us. Sedgwick has been a committed photographer for over 40 years and has the honour of being Ireland’s first winner of the European Exposition of Photography.

National Drawing Day 

National Drawing Day takes place on Saturday, May 18 from 10am to 4pm at the National Gallery of Ireland, Merrion Square West and Clare Street, Dublin 2.

There will be a jam-packed day of free events and activities for all ages. Between 10am and 4pm, children, families, teens and adults are invited to get creative, with sketching tours, live performances, and workshops on offer in the gallery’s inspirational spaces.

Gospel Rising Music Festival 

The Gospel Rising Music Festival is coming to Dublin City Centre for the first time from Friday to Sunday, May 17-19. 

Promising to be the biggest Gospel Rising Festival yet, visitors are guaranteed a social, fun and energetic weekend made up of workshops and gigs showcasing Ireland’s many talented gospel choirs!  Leading Irish and international choral experts will facilitate workshops in gospel choir music, teaching every aspect of this genre of music, from performance styles, choreography, soloist techniques, to harmonising and a Capella. Dublin Bay Prawn Festival

Visitors to this event can expect three days of sensational food and entertainment for all the family on May 17-19.

Dublin upcyclers can bring life to a tired piece of furniture by having their upcycled piece showcased front and centre at Ireland’s premium interior design event.

House returns to the RDS Dublin for its fourth year from May 24 to 26. There will be 160 hand-picked exhibitors and sponsors and various stages, including the Inspiration Stage, the Trend Talks stage, and an Upcycling Area, where attendees can gain insights and advice from high-profile speakers.
