Fashion show

A fashion show and sale to raise funds for the new Pastoral Centre will take place at the Church of the Guardian Angel, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, on Saturday, February 23. All clothes are new and nearly new. The doors open for the show at 11am, the show starts at 11.30am and entry is €10. Delicious refreshments are included in the price. The doors reopen at 1.30pm for the sale. Tickets are €5 and this covers the refreshments also. Tickets are on sale at the Pastoral Centre and the church.

Greek Business and Arts Festival 

The Hellenic Community of Ireland (HCI), is presenting the ‘Greek Business and Arts Festival’ in CHQ, Custom House Quay, Docklands, Dublin 1, on Sunday, February 24 from 12noon to 4pm. 

On the day visitors can taste Greek products and meet with Greek and Cypriot entrepreneurs and artists from a wide spectrum. Free tickets are available at Eventbrite.

Big Shot

Written and composed by North Dubliner Lauryn Gaffney, ‘Big Shot’ will wow audiences at The Helix on Friday, February 22.

‘Big Shot’ tells the story of one Jeremy Crocker, a savvy defence lawyer thriving in New York City’s bustling legal profession. 

Despite his ambitions, Crocker falls in love with Carrie, a struggling Irish artist who works in Crocker’s go-to café in Downtown Manhattan. Tickets are on sale now at The Helix wwwthehelix.ie.

It’s All About books

DCU Library and Northside arts group GlasDrum are presenting It’s All About books by visual artist Marie Hanlon, from February 22 to March 15 at the Cregan Library, DCU St Patrick’s Campus, Drumcondra.

It’s a visual art installation about books set in a library. The artworks, all created by artist Marie Hanlon, engage with the physical aspects of books, their history and their future in a technology driven world. Plein-Air exhibition 

Plein-Air is a French expression meaning open air. Artists have long painted outdoors, but in the mid-19th century, working in natural light become particularly popular with many painters, helped by the development of portable artist’s easels. The Gallery@Framexperts in Ranelagh is hosting a group exhibition of landscape painting on Saturday, February 23 from 3 – 5pm.

Great Expectations

Balally Players Theatre Co presents ‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens in dlr Mill Theatre from February 19 to 23. Adapted by Jo Clifford and directed by Brian Molloy, this is a beautifully simple adaptation of one of Dickens’s best-loved novels, bringing it thrillingly to life for the stage.

Robin Hood

The Inchicore Variety Group are putting on a Robin Hood and His Not so Merry Men Pantomime in the Oblate Hall Inchicore starting on Wednesday, February 20 at 8pm each evening until a Sunday matinee on February 24 at 3pm it’s a great night’s entertainment for all the family. The Irish in WW1

A talk by Kevin Myers and Martin Staunton entitled ‘The Irish in WW1’ takes place on Saturday, February 23 at 3pm at Knox Memorial Hall, Monkstown (beside Goggins Pub).There will also be a WW1 exhibition on display. Admission free. The event is being hosted by the Medal Society of Ireland.

The Dublin International Film Festival

Movie fans are in for a treat over the coming weeks at the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF), which takes place from February 20 to March 3.
