Bram Stoker Festival

The Bram Stoker Festival returns to celebrate the supernatural, the thrill of Samhain and the legacy of one of Ireland’s most treasured authors this bank holiday weekend. There’s something for everyone in the packed programme of theatre, readings, illustration and animation, outdoor screenings, audio treats, free family fun parks, podcasts and electrifying adventures in unusual locations throughout the city.

NiteTrain for Whitehall

The Prem Rawat Foundation is holding a fundraising event for starving children at Home Farm Football Club, Whitehall, on October 26 from 9pm till 12.30am.

Fingal Festival of Fire

The Fingal Festival of Fire is returning with an expanded programme this year which will see three communities host the family-friendly event, culminating in a ‘spooktacular’ fireworks display. Building on the success of the event in Swords over the past couple of years, communities in both Blanchardstown and Balbriggan will, for the first time, be able to enjoy the wonderful event on Halloween night.

The Festival of Fire takes place in Swords Town Park at 5.30pm, the fun starts in Millennium Park in Blanchardstown at 6pm, and the event at Balbriggan Harbour starts at 7.30pm.

The girls are back in town

The Ladies in the Blues music theatre show charts women’s role in the evolution of the blues. Singers Clara Rose, Bray native, Emma Nicolai, Dun Laoghaire’s Jhil Quin on washboard and vocals and singer songwriter, Grainne Hunt, pay homage to some of the women who first made their mark by singing such songs as ‘I Put a Spell on You’, ‘Bring it on Home to Me’, ‘Ball and Chain’, ‘Piece of My Heart’ and ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’. They play the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire, on October 24.

Steo Wall

Steo Wall has announced another Dublin show. Following on from his successful album launch in The Bowery, Rathmines last month, Steo and his band will take to the stage of The Bello Bar on Saturday, November 3 to perform songs from his acclaimed debut album, ‘Where I’m From’. Before that he’ll be performing as a special guest at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards in Vicar Street on October 25.

The Bar Stool Preachers

The Bar Stool Preachers have taken the UK punk and ska music scenes by storm. Brighton’s ska-infused, street punk inspired five-piece are that rare thing – a band whose songs stay in your head after just one listen and have you smiling throughout. Catch them in The Bowery, Rathmines on Thursday, November 1 at 8pm.

Bohemian Rhapsody

To celebrate the release of Bohemian Rhapsody in 4DX, Cineworld Dublin is encouraging guests to dress like the band Queen for one night only. On Wednesday October 24th, the cinema will be transporting attendees back in time with a fancy dress screening at 8:30pm.

 Rock your best moustache and yellow gold-braided jacket, dust off your old black and white tiled jumpsuit – Queen is the theme of the evening and Cineworld is putting no limit on creativity. A €100 voucher will even be awarded to the best dressed attendee on the night.

 Model Railway & Hobbies Exhibition

The Model Railway Society of Ireland is hosting its bi-annual exhibition this year over the October Bank Holiday weekend. 

It’s taking place at St Paul’s College, Sybil Hill, Raheny, Dublin 5, from October 27-29 at 11am-5pm. Tickets cost €8 for adults and €4 for children with family tickets available for €16 (two adults and two children).
