Busker Fleadh at Smithfield
Smithfield Square will come alive with a jam-packed programme of live music and performance at the Busker Fleadh this Sunday, October 7, from 12noon to 5pm.
A wide variety of busking acts will delight and entertain the crowd as they battle it out in the second annual Busker Competition.
Brought to you by Dublin City Council, this free event will be a guaranteed great day out for all music lovers.
Everyone is invited to share in the experience as Smithfield Square is filled with the music of Ireland’s supreme buskers, coming together to provide a diverse and multicultural programme of street performance and music. For more information visit www.buskerfleadh.ie.
Parkrun
All walkers and runners are welcome to take part in parkruns every Saturday at 9.30am at a number of local venues including Tyrrelstown Park, Tolka Valley Park, St Anne’s Park, Fairview Park, Poppintree Park, Darndale Park, Father Collins Park, Newbridge Demesne and Ardgillan Demesne.
Parkrun is a timed 5k walk/run and is a completely free to participate community-based, volunteer-led initiative, and a great way to meet people and keep fit.
Junior Parkruns for four to 14-year-olds take place on Sundays at a number of venues over a 2km distance. For further details and to register, visit www.parkrun.ie
Fingal Intercultural Day
Fingal Ethnic Network (FEN) is holding an Intercultural Day 2018 on Saturday, October 6 from 3pm to 7pm at The Auditorium, Riasc Centre, Feltrim Road, Swords.
The event will showcase cultural arts from more than 10 countries, an exhibition of traditional artefacts and an opportunity to taste multicultural cuisine. Entry is free.
FEN strives to strengthen and provide opportunities for integration in Fingal through a range of programmes including Intercultural Day.

Festival of History
The Dublin Festival of History continues until October 7 with free walks, talks, tours and exhibitions taking place across the city.
The Dublin City Council festival features 140 events in total, including many exploring themes of suffrage and women’s rights.
More than half the speakers on the programme are women, covering topics ranging from Hitler’s Valkyries to Victorian-era sex-workers. Sports, music, gaming, slavery, the Romanovs of Russia, and seminal moments in Irish history also make an appearance on the extensive programme of events.

Dublin Theatre Festival
The Dublin Theatre Festival kicked off last weekend but there’s plenty happening from now until October 14. There’s tons of great, live performance showcasing pioneering international productions, engaging and provocative Irish work, theatre for children, as well a series of critical talks, artist development programmes and industry events.
At the heart of the festival is the city of Dublin – its people and its stories – and a commitment to contributing to the vibrant social and cultural life of our capital.

J Con
J Con is billed as Ireland’s ‘funnest’ anime, manga, cosplay and J culture event. The second episode of J Con will be in Croke Park on Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7 2018.
There will be super special guests, a mix of panels, a fantastic trade hall, trad J Culture like calligraphy and origami, wacky events like the All Ireland Rock Paper Scissors Contest, and lots of fun. Check out www.jconireland.com for more details!
Nick Munier: An Exhibition of Painting
Restaurateur and artist, Nick Munier, will showcase a selection of his latest paintings at The Gallery@Framexperts in Ranelagh from October 12-18.
This collection of abstract art is a lavish appreciation of colour, filled with all the passion that defined his career in the catering world. Having taken a vacation from all hospitality related pursuits, Nick has used the time to produce a new exhibition using his life in restaurants and the colourful characters within them as his major influence as well as the spectacular backdrop of his surroundings in the US and Europe.
On the Surface of It
International artist Anthony Wigglesworth’s exhibition ‘On the Surface of It’ takes place at Sol Art Gallery, D’Olier Street, Dublin 2 on Thursday, October 4. The exhibition runs until October 14.
Wigglesworth was born in 1979 and is currently based in the coastal town of Dun Laoghaire.
This year his work was exhibited at the exclusive and Art Wynwood in Miami, again under the direction of Sol Art Gallery. 2019 will see more of Anthony’s work travelling to Miami, to Etra Fine Art Gallery under the direction of Alicia Restrepo and Stefano Campini. He has been invited to once again exhibit at Edinburgh Art Fair 2018 and has also planned Art Wynwood, Miami 2019 with Sol Art Gallery.
Bresson: An evening with Robin Gill
Bresson has announced the first in a series of guest chef events when the Monkstown Crescent restaurant hosts an evening with Robin Gill on Thursday, October 4. This will be the latest guest appearance in Dublin for the London based Irish chef after recent events at Glover Alley, Chapter One and The Airfield Estate.
