FROM busking on the streets of Dublin in their early days, to sold out shows in Ireland, the UK and Europe, Hudson Taylor have been one of this country’s great success stories in recent years.

They are back to play Bulmers Live at Leopardstown for a show this Thursday, on June 21. Brothers Alfie and Harry began 2018 with a brand new track ‘Run With Me’ following lengthy touring of their debut album, ‘Singing for Strangers’.

The talented duo will be taking the stage at the popular racecourse where the Waterboys (August 16) and Paul Young (July 19) join Keywest (July 26) and Smokie (August 9) for one of Dublin’s fastest growing and most exciting nights out.

Keywest are also no strangers to Dublin’s streets and venues, having built up a huge following in recent years with a brilliant live show and the Number One album, ‘Joyland’.

Smokie, meanwhile, have racked up platinum albums across Europe in a career that has spanned over four decades.

Probably best known in this country for their gigantic hit single ‘Living Next Door to Alice’, Smokie have played in stadiums around the world, to a staggering 500,000 people in Kiev’s main square to places as far flung as Ulan Bator, Mongolia, where they sold out two nights in the capital’s 40,000 capacity stadium.

The Thursday evening performances will be preceded by a top-class card of horse racing and a wide selection of hospitality options are available.

The ‘Summer Bundle’ at only €33 includes admission to the racing and concert, a welcome drink, a €10 food voucher and a €5 tote bet. À la carte style dining is available in the 1888 restaurant at €75 per person.

For group bookings the Summer Party is ideal where you have a table reserved for the evening overlooking the racetrack and a three-course meal for only €70 per person.

Leopardstown Racecourse is only 20 minutes from Dublin City Centre on the Luas Green line, with dedicated free shuttle buses running from the Sandyford stop to the venue. Leopardstown is located off exit 14 or exit 15 on the M50 southbound or exit 15, M50 Northbound. Complimentary parking is available on a first come first served basis.

TRACK RECORD WITH HUDSON TAYLOR

1. Most memorable moment in Dublin?

The first time we played a headline show at the Olympia Theatre in 2015. There is no feeling quite like walking out to your own sold out show to sing some songs you wrote in your bedroom and have people singing them back at you in your favourite venue in Dublin!

2. Name your favourite place to visit in Dublin and why..

Taking the DART out to Dalkey and walking up Killiney Hill for a beautiful view of Dublin. This is a favourite place because it’s a nice walk whatever the time of year (just wrap up if it’s winter!)

3. When you're not playing music, what else do you do?

Go on walks, cook and do yoga.

4. First album you bought and last album you bought?

The first was Shaggy – ‘Wasn’t Me’ and the last was Tom Misch – ‘Geography’.

5. Who are your influences?

A lot of 60s and 70s Pop, Rock, Folk and Country music. The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac. And then there are the more modern Irish singer songwriters like Damien Rice, Glen Hansard and Conor J O’Brien.

6. With you fronting, who would make up your ideal band (dead or alive)

George Harrison on lead guitar, Keith Richards on rhythm guitar, Nile Rogers on another rhythm guitar, John Lennon on BVs and keys, Paul McCartney on BVs and bass and Steve Gadd on drums.

7. Any tips on life?

There’s no time like now. Learning to be present, living in the now and accepting things as they are. This seems to be a very rewarding way to live if you can sustain it, thus not letting the past or the future negatively effect your life or the lives of others around you.

8. If you were to name a horse for a race, what would it be and why?

‘A Horse’ because it’s silly fun. Would get a chuckle every time because whenever the commentator has to speak about the horse he has to say “a Horse has just passed on the inside” or “a Horse just about made it over that hurdle…”
