MUSIC: Duo ride on a London wave

ROCK duo, The Survival Code, fronted by Dubliner Gary McGuiness, will be playing a show on May 10 at Fibber Magees in support of their new single ‘Along The Way’ which is creating huge waves after its premiere at Camden Rocks in London.

Performing in Dublin means a lot to the guys, especially Gary. After his dad passed away recently this is the first time he will be performing on home soil.

Survival Code’s second release from their forthcoming album, ‘Hopelessness of People’ is ‘Along the Way’, a blitzkrieg of zig-zagging guitars and soaring harmonies which launches at breakneck speed and only picks up pace as it progresses.

Having had their previous single’s video, ‘Not Working’, premiered by Hot Press and receiving radio play from the likes of Planet Rock, Survival Code officially launched ‘Along the Way’ at this year’s Camden Rocks Presents.

Based in London, Survival Code pared themselves down to a duo after stripping away everything from unnecessary production to surplus band members. As well as Dubliner Gary, lead singer/guitarist, it consists of Londoner, Tom Cook (drums/backing vocals).

‘Along the Way’ builds on the success of their previous single but adds a more aggressive tone to their already no nonsense, no compromise, no prisoners approach.

Working alongside Matt Hyde (Slipknot, Bullet for my Valentine and Ash), Survival Code have the power and dynamics of a band literally twice their size – packed to the gills with tantalising riffs and fiendishly addictive melodies, a rock band who cut to the chase and go for the jugular.

Having overcome the issue of former band members in the past, they have stuck to the two ever-present members to lead them forward to glory, with a string of live dates planned alongside a full release schedule of new music for 2018.
