MUSICAL: A treat for Carole King fans

Dublin People 07 Nov 2017

THE Olivier, Tony and Grammy award-winning ‘Beautiful – the Carole King Musical’, is coming to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from January 9 to 20.

Tickets are priced from €26 and are now on sale through Ticketmaster outlets.

Long before she was Carole King, the chart-topping music legend, she was an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent.

‘Beautiful’ tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit song writing team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, before becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

During these formative years, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, including one of the best-selling albums of all time, ‘Tapestry’, and countless classics such as ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’, ‘Take Good Care of My Baby’, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’, ‘So Far Away’, ‘Up on the Roof’ and ‘The Locomotion’. The show also includes the Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann hit songs ‘You’ve Lost that Lovin Feeling’, ‘On Broadway’ and ‘We Gotta Get out of This Place’.

Bronté Barbé will lead the multi-talented cast as ‘Carole King’ on the UK and Ireland tour. Bronté was a finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s BBC1 television series ‘Over The Rainbow’ in 2010. Since then she has appeared on stage in both London’s West End and around the UK, including ‘Cool Rider’ in the West End and as Princess Fiona in the UK tour of ‘Shrek – The Musical’.

Bronté will be joined by Kane Oliver Parry as King’s husband and songwriting partner ‘Gerry Goffin’; Amy Ellen Richardson as songwriter ‘Cynthia Weil’; Matthew Gonsalves as songwriter ‘Barry Mann’; Carol Royle as King’s mother Genie Klein’; and Adam Howden as music publisher and producer Donnie Kirshner.
