TRACK RECORD WITH JERRY FISH
1. Best gig you’ve been to in Dublin
I have been to so many memorable gigs in Dublin.. The Beastie Boys at The Tivoli was absolutely savage, but I was also lucky enough to see Bob Marley in Dalymount Park, The Teardrop Explodes in McGonagles and Iggy Pop at The National Stadium – too many to just pick one!
2. Most Memorable moment in Dublin
Impossible to pinpoint one moment as the most memorable, as all four of my children-were born in Holles St and so was I. Dublin was also the city where I met my beautiful wife. I love Dublin, my family have lived on the muddy banks of the Liffey from way, way back, and my two great grandmothers were next door neighbours in Raytown.
3. Most ‘Want to forget’ moment in Dublin
I try my utmost to have no regrets, therefore there is nothing I ‘want to forget’…leave the hating to the haters!
4. First album you bought and last album you bought
First album I bought was possibly ‘Aladdin Sane’ by David Bowie or ‘Slider’ by T Rex. The last record I bought was the new Gorillaz album ‘Humanz’.
5. When you’re not playing music, what else do you do?
I love art, anthropology and history..at the moment I am digging up what I can related to the nautical history of Dublin, for an abstract piece of theatre I am working on called ‘Misery Hill’ as I am a descendent of pirates that used to, quite literally, hang out there.
6. Who are your influences?
I am a survivor, so I am impressed by anyone doing their own thing. The Jerry Fish Elec-tric Sideshow’s motto is “unity through diversity” so naturally my influences are diverse. I am drawn to the maverick and anyone with a joie de vivre.
7. If you weren’t the Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, who would make up your ideal band with you as frontman? (Musicians past and present)
I’d be happy to just hang out with Bootsy Collins for a bit, would love to do a record with Frank Black from The Pixies and am in absolute awe of ‘LP’ Laura Pergolizzi from New York. Mix it up!
8. Any tips on life?
Don’t forget to breathe!
9. First person you’d invite to your party?
Grayson Perry (artist)..bring the motorcycle Grayson and tell us all what to wear.
10. Last person you’d invite to your party?
Perhaps it is better not to be so rude.
