MUSIC: Brilliant Trees to support Aslan at garden gig
Dublin People 14 Apr 2017
DUBLIN rockers Aslan have revealed that Brilliant Trees will be supporting them as they make their Iveagh Gardens debut in Dublin’s City Centre this summer, on Friday, July 7.
Aslan’s Christy Dignam explained: “It’s our biggest show this year and its out-doors.
“We wanted to have a Finglas vibe going and we thought straight away of the Brilliant Trees.
“From their single ‘Home’ it has been proven that the band can write great songs, and they are back gigging, so this is a great opportunity to give them the big gig they deserve.
“It’s great to be playing such a prestigious gig as the Iveagh Gardens,” he added, “and we promise to make this a night to remember.”
After returning to the scene late last year with a brand new single and a re-release of ‘Friday Night’ their debut album that was released 21 years ago this summer, the band then sold out three shows at the Grand Social.
Now back in the studio writing new material the band are excited that their fans will get a chance to see two great Finglas bands on one stage.
Brilliant Trees lead singer Al Hoey said: “It’s a real pleasure to play with Aslan.
“I have early memories of when they played the Danceline venue in town, in the late 1980s.
“I remember trying to bunk in most Saturday nights.
“Our guitarist Tony Barrett was more than likely already inside.
“They were always the band to see live, and they were from Finglas. Then ‘Feel No Shame’ came out and blew us all away.
“The gig at the Iveagh Gardens will be like a celebration of the talent that keeps coming out of Finglas.”
