Purple Rain celebrates Prince in Dublin tribute
Dublin People 03 Feb 2017
FOLLOWING sold-out shows across the UK, ‘Purple Rain’ is bringing their world class live celebration of the music, life and legacy of Prince on its first nationwide tour of Ireland.
This full 8-piece live band delivers a non-stop, hit-packed show spanning more than two hours.
The show comes complete with backing vocals, horn section, keys, and of course Jimi Love as the unsurpassed Prince.
Audiences can expect to see, hear and feel all of the hits from one of the most loved artists of all time.
Among the numerous hits expect to hear some of the obvious choices including ‘1999’, ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Diamonds And Pearls’, ‘U Got The Look’, ‘When Doves Cry’, ‘Cream’, and ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ that are all performed to an astonishing authentic degree.
Lauded by the original Prince and the Revolution drummer Bobby Z as “authentic and on the money”, the Purple Rain Show is as close to one of the most iconic performers to ever take to the stage as it gets.
The show will roll into town as the world remembers the influential pop star on the first anniversary of his death.
Prince died on April 21 of an accidental overdose of the powerful painkiller fentanyl at his Paisley Park estate in the Minneapolis suburb of Chanhassen. He was 57.
One of the key celebrations will be a four-day festival at his Paisley Park Studios compound in Minnesota.
Celebration 2017 will take place from April 20-23, and will feature artists such as Prince’s band, The Revolution and Morris Day.
Organisers said the event will “reflect the spirit” of the singer’s Prince: A Celebration June 2000 concert, which featured performances and events over four days.
Fans of the late singer have been able to pay their respects at Paisley Park since it opened to the public last month, allowing visitors to see instruments, artwork, wardrobe and other items belonging to Prince.
Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan recently topped the bill of an all-star concert tribute in memory of Prince, held at an arena in St Paul, not far from Paisley PArk.
Purple Rain are in Dublin on Wednesday, May 17 when they perform at Vicar Street. Tickets priced from €27.50 are on sale now through www.ticketmaster.ie and venue box offices.
