TRACK RECORD

WITH GEOFF TATE

1. Best gig you’ve been to in Dublin?

Years ago, I was fortunate enough to attend the recording of Damien Dempsey’s live album. The show was in the Olympia Theatre and it was just fantastic. There were people climbing the street lights after the show. Such an electric evening. I knew it was a special piece of Dublin’s live history.

2. Most memorable moment in Dublin?

In the summer of 2014 my son-in-law took me to the natural history museum or ‘dead zoo’. I’ve been in museums all over the world and that place is truly unique. That springs to mind whenever I think of Dublin.

3. Most ‘want to forget’ moment in Dublin?

Hmm. Nothing really springs to mind and I’m not just saying that. I always have such a good time in Dublin. Whether I’m here on business or just visiting, I feel like I’m coming home. I love it here.

4. First album you bought and last album you bought?

The first album I bought was ‘Meet the Beatles’ and the latest album I bought was by Cork City artist, Mark Daly’s ‘The Hearts Reminder’.

5. When you’re not playing music with Operation Mindcrime, what else do you do?

I love writing music and do so for other projects as well as my own. I am very interested in wine and have been working on a wine project in Germany called ‘Insania’.

6. Who are your influences?

The Beatles, Progressive Rock from the 70’s such as Yes, Genesis and Pink Floyd. Folk Rock from the 70’s as well.

7. If you weren’t playing with your fellow band mates, who would also make up your ideal band? (musicians past and present)

David Sylvian, Steven Wilson, Chris Squire, Oliver Wakeman, Billy Cobham

8. Any tips on life?

Praise the God of All, Drink the Wine and Let the World be the World!

9. First person you’d invite to your party?

Depak Chopra

10. Last person you’d invite to your party?

My dentist.
