JOAN As Police Woman is returning to Dublin nearly three years since selling out her last Button Factory show in April 2014.

She will be playing new songs from the album ‘Let It Be You’ that was released in October as a collaborative project where she joined forces with fellow Brooklyn musician Benjamin Lazar Davis.

Joan Wasser’s musical life has spanned many albums, bands, collaborations and genres. She picked up the violin when she was eight, soaked up Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5 and ended up studying classical music through college.

Consumed by the punk rock new wave scene, her first live shows were heavily influenced by Adam and the Ants and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Capitalising on these diverse beginnings, she eventually joined, recorded and toured with The Dambuilders, Those Bastard Souls, Antony and the Johnsons, Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and recorded and played with countless others.

Joan As Police Woman began in 2003 when she realised that when she picked up the guitar, she was able to sing and write songs. Since then, she’s released four albums of originals, one album of covers, toured the world many times over and generally fell in love with recording and songwriting.

Joan As Police Woman and  Benjamin Lazar Davis will hit the The Button Factory on Wednesday, March 15.

Tickets, €24.50, are available from www.ticketmaster.ie. Doors 7.30pm.
