Ceol unveiled as first act for new theatre

Dublin People 28 Oct 2016
Honor Heffernan will be performing on November 6.

THE new heart of Irish culture in the city can be found nestled on South Anne Street, Dublin 2. Magistorium, on the site of the legendary McGonagle’s, has been reincarnated as a magnificent theatre that will host eclectic performances and cultural events as well as offering guests the option to dine, a nod to its previous life as the Crystal Ballroom.

Magistorium will offer guests the hottest in trad, jazz cabaret and world music. Catering for all tastes, ages and interests, it will become home to Irish music, art and culture, encapsulating the best elements Irish entertainment has to offer presented in a non-stereotypical way.

Magistorium’s first offering (Act 1) reflects our traditional roots and heritage in music.

Ceol will be a weekly event featuring the best of Irish traditional musicians and singers. It’s kicking off on Thursday, November 3 with a much-anticipated performance from Stockton’s Wing, which will feature original performers of 1982 hit single ‘Beautiful Affair’, Mike Hanrahan, Paul Roche, Steve Cooney and Tommy Hayes.

They will be joined on stage by Clare musicians Tara Breen on fiddle, and Karol Lynch on banjo and mandolin. It is set to be an electric performance that is not to be missed. Guests have the opportunity to experience the first ever Magistorium show with tickets for dinner and show priced at €55 or tickets for the show only at €25.

Tickets are available from the Magistorium box office on 22 South Anne Street, Dublin 2, from www.magistorium.com

Doors open at 7pm with live performance to start at 9.30pm.
