‘IRELAND’S most underrated band’, Brilliant Trees, have returned to the Irish music scene with new material and two Dublin shows at the Grand Social.

News of the band’s re-emergence prompted a surge in demand for “hard to get” back catalogue albums that have now been made available on the iTunes store.

Their debut album ‘Friday Night’ went straight to number 20 in the iTunes Charts a full 20 years after its original release date.

With the gigs and back catalogue now available fans were in for another treat as the band announced on Facebook that new material would be released including the Single ‘I know, I know’ that subsequently hit the airwaves.

The single has seen growing air play across Irish radio over the last number of weeks.

Tickets for the second of their Grand Social gigs, on October 14, are now available.

The band, formed in 1989, consists of Alan Hoey (lead vocals, guitar), Tony Barrett (guitar), Sid Barrett (bass) and Dave Farrell (drums).

In 1998 the band were joined by keyboard player Dave Morrissey. Dave Farrell quit the band in 2002.

Their first single ‘Home’, released in 1993 by itself should have made this band an international sensation. In 1996 their second single ‘Don’t waste your Talent’ received huge radio play and allowed the band to play to a much bigger audience.

Their debut LP ‘Friday Night’ was also released in 1996 and received rave reviews. The band toured America from 1997 to 2000 and recorded their second album ‘Wake up and Dream’ in Atlanta Georgia in 1998.

The EP ‘Let it all go’ was recorded in New Jersey in 1999 and released in 2000. The band toured Germany in 2002 and released the LP ‘Like you Alot Love you a Little’ in 2002.

They took a break for five years but got back together for a reunion gig in April 2007. The gig itself was outstanding and saw the band play a set of over 20 songs.

Regarded by many as some of the best song writers of their generation, the band continued to write together in later years and it was with great excitement that they returned in 2016 with their first release in 16 years.

A new LP is planned for early 2017.
