NORTH county Dublin is set to welcome one of Ireland’s finest singers for what promises to be a very special gig next month.

Former Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh has confirmed she will play an intimate acoustic gig in The Yacht, Loughshinny on May 22.

The singer, who also featured on the soundtrack to the blockbuster movie ‘The Commitments’, says she is really looking forward to the night.

“I have done a couple of unannounced guest spots in The Yacht over the past few years but this is my first solo show there,” she says. “I know it’s a great audience so I cant wait.”

Kavanagh won the Eurovision in 1993 with the classic ‘In Your Eyes’.

After being signed by Simon Cowell promptly left her job in the bank to embark on a long and enduring career in the music world.

She went on to have a massive hit with the song that won her the Eurovision title in 1993 in Millstreet, County Cork.

Prior to winning the contest Niamh had added lead vocals to ‘The Commitments’ soundtrack including a stand out version of ‘Destination Anywhere’.

These songs, along with many other favourites, form the basis of Niamh’s live set.

The Yacht has played host to many top names in recent times and is firmly back on the live circuit.

Others who have visited include Nathan Carter, Louis Walsh and Mary Black.

Niamh Kavanagh’s special acoustic gig promises to be a memorable night of music from one of Ireland’s greatest singers.

A limited number of tickets, priced at just €10, are available from the venue or by contacting Maeve on 087-2417213.
