AER Lingus Regional has announced extra capacity on its Dublin to Glasgow route to cater for golf fans heading to the British Open at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland, from July 14-17.
The airline anticipates that a large number of North America based golf fans will transfer through Dublin Airport onto Scotland for the Open.
Aer Lingus customers travelling from North America can chose seamless transfer options for Dublin to Glasgow from ten US destinations including New York, Boston, Chicago, Orlando, Washington, Toronto, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The airline will operate Aer Lingus’s larger 174 seater A320 on the route between Monday, July 11, and Tuesday, July 19, to cater for the increased demand for seats.
“The British Open is the oldest and one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world,” a spokesperson said.
“The additional capacity on the route is a direct response to the increased passenger demand amongst golf enthusiasts looking to attend the event and cheer on what is an exceptionally strong field of Irish golfers competing in this year’s Open.”
