FOLLOWING an extensive nationwide search for Ireland’s greatest cover version, young Dublin band Badger Hill and rapper Caz have reached the final of the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye Song Contest.

Following a public vote on Joe.ie the Dublin pair are part of five finalists who will face off at a national final in Whelan’s on Wednesday, March 9.
On the night an overall winner will be decided by a panel of judges including Niamh Farrell (HamsandwicH), Shane Dunne (Indiependence Festival) and Paddy McKenna (Joe.ie).
Thousands of aspiring musicians and singers have entered the competition to date, showcasing an immense depth of talent from the four corners of Ireland. Amazing interpretations of well-known songs have wowed past judges, and now it is down to the final five to make a claim for the €2,000 top prize.
As well as Badger Hill and rapper Caz, the other finalists for this year’s Apple of My Eye Song Contest are The Renegades – ’99 Red Balloons’ – Nena (Waterford), Zena – ‘No Diggity’ – Backstreet (Wexford) and Brave Giant – Is This Digital Love? – Bob Marley (Longford).
Known for their infectious live performances, Badger Hill’s choice of Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’ proved a big hit with online voters across the country, while Caz and guitarist Stevo made the final with Anne-Marie’s ‘Do It Right’.
Both acts have an excellent chance to impress music industry insiders at Whelan’s on Wednesday night. Apple of My Eye 2015 winners Flat Out will also perform on the night. Any members of the public wishing to attend the national final will find more information on Joe.ie.
